Jenny Marr Appointed to Extended Term on MLA Board
At the MLA Board of Directors September meeting, the Board voted to appoint Jenny Marr to the seat vacated by Scott Duimstra. The Board also voted to appoint Jenny to the open seat on the Executive Committee. Jenny will fulfill the remainder of the term which ends June 30, 2025.
Jenny is the Director at Ferndale Area District Library and Chair of MLA's Advocacy and Legislative Committee. |

MLA Awarded Nonprofit Relief Grant
MLA has been awarded a grant of $25,000 from the Michigan Nonprofit Relief Fund, a collaborative fund of the Michigan Nonprofit Association and the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Opportunity.
This award may be used as a general operating grant pursuant to the Department of the Treasury Coronavirus State and Local Fiscal Recovery Fund (SLFRF) Final Rule effective April 1, 2022. |

Celebrate the Right to Read
The first week of October is nationally observed as Banned Books Week, and here in Michigan, we’re changing the narrative. Next week, the Michigan library community and the MI Right to Read coalition are celebrating Right to Read Week and urging residents to protect their First Amendment right to read by standing up against book banning and censorship efforts in their communities.
