MLA Connect Exploration: strong> Keynote discussions with field leaders exploring the most pressing questions for our field today and into the future.
What makes a good grant application? What should be included in the proposal? Why does the fu nder want a community needs assessment? Is there a right way to do a budget ? This presentation will offer tips on how to complete a typical grant prop osal, avoid common mistakes in the application process, and improve your ch ances to get funding for that great program idea you have.

Karren Reish is the Library Grants Coordinator at the Library of Mich igan. With a background in academic and public libraries, she has worked at the Library of Michigan as the federal LSTA grants coordinator for 17 year s. She also works as a consultant to school librarians. Currently she manag es the federal LSTA funds for the Library of Michigan services, the grant p rograms to libraries, and the School Library 21st Century benchmarks progra m.
