Navigating Material Challenges for Library Trustees

Thursday, August 11, 2022
6:00 - 7:30 PM

MLA is partnering with the Michigan Cooperative Directors Association to host a virtual trustee training event on Thursday, August 11 from 6:00 - 7:30 PM. As libraries in Michigan and around the country grapple with an unprecedented number of book bans and challenges, this event will help orient library trustees to their role and responsibilities when it comes to material challenges.

Attendees will learn about the importance of established library policy, good governance and more when faced with politically motivated challenges to intellectual freedom.

This event is free to attend for library trustees. We hope you will join us!

Presenters

Presenters include Shirley Bruursema, Trustee, Kent District Library and Lakeland Library Cooperative; Carol Dawe, Director, Lakeland Library Cooperative; Dillon Geshel, Director, Superiorland Library Cooperative; Eric Palmer, Director, Mideastern Michigan Library Cooperative; and Kate Pohjola Andrade, Director, Woodlands Library Cooperative.
